About Vilhelm Lauritzen
Vilhelm Lauritzen was a pioneer of Danish functionalism, shaping the country's architectural landscape with landmark projects such as Norrebro Theatre, Daells Varehus, Radiohuset, and Copenhagen's first airport terminal. His belief that aesthetics are essential to life informed both his buildings and lighting designs, where he masterfully balanced daylight and artificial illumination to enhance spatial experience. Lauritzen's approach to lighting—created a distinctive atmosphere, most notably in Radiohuset, where he designed both the architecture and its lighting fixtures. Since the mid-1940s, several of his exceptional lamp designs have remained part of the Louis Poulsen catalog, continuing his legacy of thoughtful lighting.
